Senior Services Board appointed
The transformation from two senior citizens organizations to one countywide organization is complete.
On Monday, the County Board of Supervisors appointed a 12-member Board of Directors for the Butler County Senior Services.
The board members are: District 1, Karen Fendrich; District 2, Ethel Reha; District 3, Donna Steager; District 4, Eldon Coufal; District 5, Dorothy Schultz; District 6, Jerry Meister; District 7, Janice Makovicka.
At large members are: Ken Pohl, Pat Comte, Pat Hilderbrand, Ed Kozisek and Virgil Vrbka.
Under the bylaws of the program, half of the board members will serve three-year terms and half will serve two years. The board members will be serving either through June 30, 2011, and June 30, 2012.
Each of the supervisors sought volunteer board members from their respective district. Supervisor Kevin Slama said that in District 3, four people turned down the position. In that case, a board member from outside the district could be appointed.
Instead of having the David City Seniors and the Butler County Seniors Services Center and Transit, the community will have only one organization, Butler County Senior Services.
For years, the two groups operated separately, with separate fundraising efforts and governance. One had a board made up entirely of David City residents, the other included board members from across the county.
The program operates the senior center at Sixth and D streets in David City.
