The East Butler wrestling team finished sixth at the East Central Nebraska Conference Invite at Louisville Friday.
Palmer, ranked second in Class D, won the team title with 172 points. Weeping Water placed second with 135 points.
The Tigers scored 96 points.
"Six out of seven wrestlers received medals, which is not bad for a tough conference," East Butler Coach Doug Glasshoff said. "I felt that we wrestled well up until the finals. We need to be able to pick a few wins in those situations, even though they are tough matches. Overall, it was good tune-up for districts next week in Sutton."
Four of East Butler's wrestlers reached the finals. All four settled for second place.
Tyler Silverstrand pinned his first two opponents, but dropped an 8-3 decision to Weeping Water's Alex Wessels in the 215-pound title match.
Tanner Ratkovec avenged an earlier loss to Malcolm's Seth Deinert by winning an 8-6 decision in the 135-pound semifinals. Ratkovec was pinned by Class D No. 2 Clayton Moore of Friend in 1:30 in the finals.
Taylor Cieslik captured a pair of close decisions before he was pinned by Shelton Mozena of Weeping Water in 2:45 in the 152-pound finals.
Jerry Ingwersen was pinned by third-ranked Tyler Wichmann of Palmer in 1:41 in the 160-pound finals.
Cody Florian (119 pounds) and Tyler Wright (189) placed fourth.
East Butler will compete at the District D-1 meet in Sutton Friday and Saturday.
