Scouts advance four to semifinals
The David City Scouts have four wrestlers in the semifinals at the Class C Nebraska State Wrestling Championships. Sem-finals and third round consolations begin at 6 p.m. Friday. at the Qwest Center in Omaha.
Jacob Schwartz won a 215 lb quarterfinal decision over Cody Stowe, 19-11, of Valentine in the quarterfinals. Schwarz received a bye in the first round. Schwartz will face Eli Vosler, 36-1, of North Bend Central.
Lucas Kastl, 43-2, got his second first-period pin in the 189 lb division, defeating Eric Draper, 29-16, of Raymond Central. Kastl will face Derek Mowinkel, 30-4, of Logan View in the semis.
In 152 lb action, Aaron Rerucha, 40-3-11, got a third period technical fall, 18-2, over Jesse Richardson, 35-13, of Gordon-Rushville. Rerucha will face Kurt Ruh, 28-1, of Madison in the semis.
Tanner Wemhoff moved to the 145 lb. semis with a 15-0 technical fall over Collier Miller, 42-12 of Lutheran High Northeast. Wemhoff will face Jake Smutny of Madison, who has a record of 31-5. The winner will face either Grant Potadle of Tekamah Herman or Austin Wilson of Hastings St. Cecilia
